UBI is my concept for an environmentally-friendly disposable item brand. Its conception was directly inspired by the dearth of well-designed packaging for disposable items. If you look at brands of paper plates and plastic cups, many of them look the same. What’s worse, a majority are just poorly designed. I wanted UBI to be a brand that the consumer bought not simply out of necessity, but because they were drawn to the packaging itself. Furthermore, I wanted to improve on the typical disposable item brand by making all of the products compostable and recyclable, which added another design challenge to the project as a whole.

For UBI’s logo, I wanted a simple and succinct logo that still had meaning. “X” is UBI’s defining mark. It replaces the point of the i. It communicates the nature and goal of the brand - to eliminate and reduce unnecessary plastics, pollution, and harm to our planet.
